marie's 9 month portraits
so this year we are experimenting and trying to do marie's 9 month portraits ourselves...i'll try to find eben's and marie's if i have scanned them and see what you think. eben's we did professionally and it turn out very nice. very formal. emily jane's was done at walmart since she was 9 months while we were at seminary (extrememly low cash flow!). and now i think i've decided they smile the best at home with just us. so i still have time to change my mind if i don't like it. :) haha but here's what we came up with on shoot #1...whatcha think?
this is the formal shot most like the shots of eben and emily jane...i think it turned out rather nice! her smile is so priceless
the exposure came out really funky on this one - but i think i really really like it!!!i think she's saying "are we done yet? i dont know!"
and here's my little thumb sucker...in a year and a half i'm going to need some really good tips on how to get her to stop...but for now it is so incredibly adorably cute!!!!!!!

our christmas
so i didn't take my camera out at my parents' or rhett's parents' houses...i'll have to get copies of those pictures later...but here are the ones that i do have of our christmas morning. :)
the week before christmas, my parents came over and built eben and emily jane a castle bed for their room...it is so incredibly awesome...but we were finishing it up way past their bedtime so eben and emily jane crashed on our bed. :) they were completely oblivious and SO excited the next morning. :) we moved them in their sleep so that they woke up in their new beds. they thought that was SO cool. :)
the AWESOME castle bed :) it still has to be painted...
marie dressed up for the christmas eve candle light service - with her very first hair bow...isn't she just so incredibly precious?!
christmas morning...our little tree filled with presents :) yay for consignment sales and hand me downs!! haha
emily jane's big present - a big tub of blocks!
their "new" hand-me-down bikes which they LOVED
emily jane's favorite present (from a dear lady at church) - an electric toy train that goes by itself and makes train noises. this girl is so into trains it's ridiculous.
eben's big present - an indiana jones whip that
enjoying their christmas presents ...
uncle chris and aunt ashley gave the kids a buble machine for the tub - it is too cool! they love taking baths with it and playing with the massive mountains of bubbles that it blows. thanks guys!!! you did awesome!
they did this all by themselves, eben even helped put emily jane's hat and apron on - now why they're cooking and cutting bricks is beyond me...but they look darling don't they?

preschool christmas program...TOO CUTE
my kids were in their very first christmas program this year and is was SO FUN to see them up there! you can definitely see their personalities shining through...eben the shy little man trying to do everything perfectly...emily jane the social butterfly out to have the most fun possible...and our little marie - oblivious to it all, as long as she has her thumb. :)
eben's class in the program...
emily jane's class in the program...
after the program, they had a luncheon in the fellowship hall and santa came to visit so my kids got their very first pictures with santa - aren't they cute?

short supply
over christmas break, i was asked to describe the year 2008 in two words and i thought of me being in "short supply" - there isn't enough of me to go around! :) with a husband, 3 kids, a dog, a house, and more to keep up with...i'm in high demand. :) and so the blog has suffered. here are some way out of date posts. :)

my little marie is not acting so little!
marie has been growing like a weed lately - she is not my precious little newborn anymore - she's becoming my precious little girl! (she turned 8 months on nov. 30 so you'd think this wouldn't be a surprise haha) tuesday morning, i went in to get her and she had pulled herself up to her knees in her crib! eben and emily jane were so excited to see their little sister almost standing up. :) she is also almost crawling now...she mostly does a girly army crawl kicking thing - but she will once in a while get up on her hands and knees for a few scoots. :) it is so amazing to me how much children grow and change in that first year. what once was a cute little bundle whose simple stares excited me so much is now a squirmy giggly little girl whose laughs and antics delight me. and of course this does make me want another baby :) too bad rhett thinks we're done. HA

the kitty kat has ears too mommy
so i put emily jane to bed tonight and a minute later she is crying her little head off! so i go back in there to see what's the matter...and here's what i heard (it might be what she said but i don't know)
"emily jane, why are you crying?"
"because"
"because why?"
"because the kitty kat has ears too mommy...the kitty kat needs kisses on his ears too mommy"
"the kitty kat needs a kiss on his ear?"
"his two ears mommy"
so i kissed her little toy kitty kat's ears, she stopped crying, smiled, and said night night.
i would LOVE to be inside a toddler's head for a day.

family pictures are a bust

i have now decided that for the next 4 years...our family pictures will not be so cute...until our kids are grown up enough to throw on a smile and hold it for longer than 2 seconds...but here ours is this year...merry christmas :)

thanksgiving
i didn't get any pictures of our actual thanksgiving...but we did have a wonderful time! i think we had 16 people sitting around the table for our turkey dinner! it was so incredibly fun!!!
here's a picture of emily jane with one of her school friends - both sporting their pilgrim hats. :) they were quite precious. :)
